House Rules
Safe, Clean, and Sober — the structure every resident agrees to on move-in.

Grouped for quick reference.
Sobriety & Drug Testing
Total abstinence is the non-negotiable foundation of every Rising Sun home.
Absolutely no alcohol, illegal drugs, non-prescribed controlled substances, medication misuse, diversion, or intoxication on or off the premises while in housing. We practice total abstinence from alcohol, illegal drugs, and misuse of mind-altering substances — including Spice, Kratom, bath salts, and designer drugs. A lawfully prescribed controlled substance may be considered only in limited circumstances through main-office review under RSSL policy and applicable law.
Submit to random drug and alcohol testing. Residents have 30 minutes to provide a sample. If unwilling or unable to produce one, the resident agrees to leave the premises immediately and not return until a negative test result can be provided.
Curfew violators are required to pass a drug test on return. The urinalysis fee is $20.
Smoking and vaping are allowed outside only, in designated areas. Smoking or vaping inside may result in discharge.
Suspicion of drug or alcohol use should be reported immediately (24/7) to a House Manager, or by calling or texting the main office at 208-898-4668. Reports remain anonymous. Anyone unable to provide a negative test will be removed.
Curfew, Check-In & Cooperation
Check in and out on the house Sign-Out Board. Nightly curfew is 10:00 pm. Exceptions are made for work schedules and special circumstances. Overnight passes from curfew are allowed with PO approval.
Agree to random searches of personal property on the premises.
We have an open-door policy with law enforcement, probation and parole, and court service programs. All residents agree to be respectful and cooperate regardless of supervision status.
House, Property & Belongings
Rising Sun is not responsible for loss, damage, or stolen property. Lock boxes are recommended for valuables.
A $25 fee will be charged if Rising Sun has to pack and store personal belongings after a move-out. Belongings will be donated after 30 days if no contact has been made with Rising Sun.
No personal oversized TVs, speakers, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee pots, heaters, furniture, candles, or excessive property are permitted.
No borrowing money from other residents or staff. No borrowing cigarettes, food, or belongings. Health & Welfare can provide an emergency food-stamp card with picture ID. St. Vincent de Paul (208-331-2208) can provide clothing vouchers, bus passes, and bikes when funds are available.
No pets of any kind are allowed in housing.
Vehicles must be in good working order and registered. Only one vehicle per licensed resident is allowed. Vehicle maintenance is not allowed on or around property under any circumstances. No loud music from any vehicle.
Conduct & Community
How we treat each other is what makes the house actually work.
All common areas are treated with respect, cleanliness, and consideration in regard to sharing.
Any resident caught stealing will be immediately discharged from housing. Suspected residents may be moved.
No visitors are allowed on Rising Sun property, to ensure everyone stays safe, clean, and sober.
Aggressive or violent behavior toward another resident or staff member will result in discharge.
Agree to do daily chores, make your bed, and pick up personal areas and belongings before leaving each day.
No romantic or intimate relationships with other residents.
Be kind and considerate when speaking to residents and staff. Be friendly and courteous to neighbors. No loud music in or around the premises — please use earbuds.
Recovery & Privileges
Agree to work a program of recovery while in housing. Rising Sun strongly recommends attending 12-Step meetings or other community recovery programs such as Celebrate Recovery.
Weekly supplies are a privilege, not part of the housing fee. Donations are to be shared respectfully.
Wi-Fi, Internet, and TV are privileges. Abuse of data usage, illegal downloading, or 411 calls will cause interruption in services. Privileges can be suspended at management's discretion.
Payments & Fees
Housing Fee: $550/month, $285/bi-weekly, or $150/week. Late payments are subject to a $25 fee. The first month's payment includes an added $50 application fee. All payments are non-refundable.
It is the resident's responsibility to know when fees are due. Fees should be placed in the guest-fee box before 10:00 pm on the day due. Cash payments are not accepted. Please pay with a money order or online at our website. Online payments include a 3% service charge.
Length of Stay, Consequences & Accommodations
Rising Sun Sober Living is a short-term housing program. You may be subject to a 30-day vacate notice.
If House Rules or policies are violated, you agree to whatever consequence is deemed necessary by staff — ranging from a 24-hour Standout to discharge. (Standout: a specified number of days when a resident is excluded from the house.)
Reasonable accommodation requests related to a disability may be made to the RSSL main office and will be considered in accordance with applicable law and RSSL policy.
